Also written as Eid ul-Fitr, this is considered as a religious observance in Islam where Muslims all over the world mark the end of the month-long fasting by participating in the Communal Prayers at the mosques, wearing new clothes, and gorging on lip-smacking delicacies.

Eid al-Adha

Eid al-Adha, commonly called Bakrid, marks the day of Sacrifice and is considered one of the most important Islamic Holidays in 2021. This day honors the act of sacrifice carried out by Ibrahim on the command of the One, where he willingly offered his own son as a sacrifice. However, in the act, God replaced his son with a lamb, hence signifying its importance.

This ritual is carried out every year by Muslims all around the world, where a part of the sacrifice is donated to the poor and needy, one-third is offered to the friends and relatives and the last is kept for the family. Kids are offered Eidi, a monetary gift, by the elders of the family. Eid al-Adha date in 2021 falls on 10 Dhul-Hijjah 1442 AH as per Hijri Calendar 2021, and 20 July 2021 as per Gregorian Calendar.

Birthday of ‘Alī ibn Abī Ṭālib

As the name suggests, this day commemorates the birth anniversary of Ali ibn Abi Talib, the son-in-law as well as cousin of Prophet Muhammad. He is considered as one of the central figures in Islam for both Sunnis and Shias respectively. Where Sunnis consider Ali as the fourth “Rashidun Caliph”, Shias consider him as the successor of the Prophet.

First day of Ramaḍān

Hajj
