Home is an individual’s personal heaven that provides safety and security. It is a dream that every person wants to achieve once in their lifetime. A person works hard to build this small world of comfortness for a happily ever after. When it is constructed, there comes the moment of Griha Pravesh, also Known as Housewarming Ceremony. According to this ceremony, the first ingress in your new home must be done in a shubh muhurat for a happy and peaceful living. Griha Pravesh Muhurat are calculated keeping in mind the days, dates (Tithis), Lagnas and Nakshatra available. Housewarming ceremony in an auspicious muhurat while following all the correct rituals brings happiness, peace and prosperity in a home.
Generally, puja rituals performed for entering a newly constructed home is considered as Griha Pravesh or Housewarming ceremony. However according to Vastu Shastra, there are 3 types of Griha Pravesh:
Housewarming or Griha Pravesh Muhurat must be decided after consulting an experienced and pronounced astrologer. According to religious beliefs, months of Magha, Phalguna, Vaishakha and Jyeshtha are considered highly auspicious for this ceremony. However, it is prohibited to perform any propitious activity including housewarming ceremony during Chaturmas, i.e. in the month of Ashadha, Ashwin, Shravana and Bhadrapada. Month of Paush is also considered inauspicious for Griha Pravesh. It is also avoided on Tuesdays. On certain situations, sometimes housewarming ceremony is also not allowed during Saturdays and Sundays. Other than these, one can perform Griha Pravesh Puja Vidhi on any other day. Dvitiya, Tritiya, Panchami, Saptami, Dashami, Ekadashi, Dwadashi and Trayodashi of Shukla Paksha, except Amavasya and Purnima, are also considered auspicious for Griha Pravesh ceremony.
Shubh Lagna: Lagna or ascendant holds great significance during Griha Pravesh. One should keep following things in mind while performing this ceremony:
Griha Pravesh Puja Vidhi must be done by an experienced astrologer or Pandit. After conclusion of Puja rituals, one should enter their home while keeping following things in mind:

It has been observed that sometimes people enter their new home before it is completely constructed, which is considered wrong in Hinduism and also as per religious texts. So, one should keep following things in mind during Griha Pravesh:
Vastu Devta is worshipped to avoid any kind of Vastu Dosha and for the peacefulness at home. It is performed before Griha Pravesh.
After Griha Pravesh, Yantra are also established to maintain happiness, peace and prosperity in the new house. One can establish any Yantra as per their heart’s reverence.
