This day is also called Ashadh Purnima or Ashad Purnima as it is celebrated on full moon day of the month of Ashad. Hindu month Ashad usually comes during June - July period as per Gregorian calendar. It is believed that sage Ved Vyas was incarnated in this world on this auspicious day. Maharshi Ved Vyas categorized the Vedas in four different volumes namely - Rigveda, Samveda, Yajurveda and Atharvaveda. He authored 18 Puranas and Mahabharata, the longest epic of the world till date. He bestowed all with the knowledge and wisdom, and that's why he is believed to be the Guru for all.
