Gangaur

Gangaur comes after Holi and is celebrated by the people of Rajasthan with great enthusiasm for eighteen days. This festival is dedicated to the consort of Lord Shiva, i.e. Goddess Gauri. The married womenfolk venerate the Goddess for longevity of their husbands and marital bliss, whereas unmarried girls worship Maa Gauri to get blessed with the desired life partner. On this day, idols of Maa are created with clay, Mehandi or Henna is applied on the hands and Vrat Katha is recited. Gangaur celebrations in Jaipur is famously known for its grandeur. On this occasion, a famous sweet dish Ghewar is eaten.

Cheti Chand

Cheti Chand is also known as the Sindhi New Year and observed as a regional holiday in Rajasthan. This festival falls during the Sindhi month Chet on the second day. Cheti Chand is also known as Ugadi in the Deccan India and Gudi Padwa in Maharashtra. This is a harvest festival and marks the beginning of Spring for Sindhi Hindus. Initiating any new business or project on this day is marked auspicious. Fairs, processions and feasts are held on this day in various regions of Rajasthan.

Maharshi Parasuram Jayanti

Maharshi Parshuram Jayanti, also known as Akshaya Tritiya, is observed as a regional holiday in Rajasthan, and falls during the Vaisakh month on its third day or Tritiya tithi in Shukla Paksha. It commemorates the birth anniversary of Lord Parshuram, the sixth avatar of Lord Vishnu. On this day, devotees fast from one night before, and visit the temples to perform the puja and make donations. Feeding Brahmins is considered auspicious on this day.

Maharana Pratap Jayanti

Maharana Pratap Jayanti is observed as a holiday in some offices of Rajasthan, and celebrates the legend of the Rajput King of Mewar, Maharana Pratap Singh. As per Hindu Panchang, this day falls on the third day in the month of Jyestha during the Shukla Paksha. Maharana Pratap is famously known for his victorious strategies in the Battle of Haldighati against the Mughals, where he fought against Mughal King Akbar. Even though the victory favoured the Mughals, they were unable to capture the Maharana Pratap.

Teej

As per the Hindu Panchang, Teej falls during the Shravan month and celebrates the onset of monsoon. This festival commemorates the union of Goddess Parvati with her spouse Lord Shiva, and is dedicated to her. Women wear green bangles and clothes, sing songs and swing on the swings. Those seeking marital happiness and prosperity worship Goddess Parvati on this day. Processions are carried out on the streets and the idol of the Goddess or Teej Mata is venerated. The traditional sweet dish called Ghewar is also consumed on this day.

Ramdev Jayanti

Ramdev Jayanti solemnizes the birth of Baba Ramdev, and is observed with great devotion and respect. It is considered as a public holiday in Rajasthan. On this day, flock of devotees visit the temple located in Ramdevra dedicated to him along with various other temples situated all over Rajasthan. A grand fair is organized in Ramdevra, where people from all over the country visit and witness the festivity. According to the Hindu Calendar, this day is observed during the month of Bhadrapada on the Dooj or second day in Shukla Paksha.

Teja Dashmi

In many provinces of India, the festival of Teja Dashmi is celebrated as a symbol of reverence, faith and belief. On Bhadrapad Shukla Dashami the festival of Tejadashmi is observed. After performing the Rat Jaga for the whole night of Navami, fairs are organized at the locations consisting of temples of Veer Tejaji on the very next day of Dashmi. Thousands of devotees visit the Tejaji temple to offer coconut and receive Baba's prasad.
