The four forms of commemoration are as follows – Kayanu Pashyana i.e. staying aware of the bodywork and consciousness, Vedanupashyana i.e. being aware of happiness & sorrow, Chitanupashyana i.e. identifying anger & hatred of the mind, and Dharmanupashyana i.e. understanding the efforts of body, mind, and speech.

The day is celebrated as the enlightenment day of Lord Buddha where he sat down under a Bodhi Tree in Bodh Gaya in 593 AD. In Mahayana traditions, it is celebrated as one of the prominent festivals. Obon: The celebration will happen on 13th August 2024. It is mainly celebrated by the Japanese Buddhist community as part of the Buddhist Holidays 2024. It is done to honor the ancestral spirits. On that day, devotees visit the graves of their ancestors and clean them up properly. They also offer flowers and other offerings on the grave. It is celebrated for 3 days and also believed that ancestors visit the home altars during the period.
