Till now we have provided you with month wise dates and Muhurats of Annaprashan Sanskar that will fall in the year 2024. We will now try to explain to you about the importance of Annaprashan Sanskar but first we’ll discover what Annaprashan Sanskar is.
Every moment spent by parents with their child is special, whether it is their first step towards walking or the first word spoken by them. Only Mother’s feed is given to a baby till they become six months old as the mother’s milk is the most nourishing and healthy food for a baby. But, after six months when a baby is feeded by a solid food for the first time, then that special occasion is celebrated as Annaprashan Sanskar and it is one of the most auspicious Sankaar for a child and their parents.
Before becoming aware of the religious importance of Annaprashan Muhurat 2024, we will comprehend its meaning. The word Annaprashan is made from the union of two words ‘Ann’ meaning grain or cereal and ‘Prashan’ meaning process. ‘Annaprashan’ is a Sanskrit word that means the process of starting to eat grains. In simple words, after completing ‘Annaprashan Sankar’, the baby is faded by grains, rice, and other foods along with mother’s milk.
From a religious point of view, most of us know that in Sanatan Dharma there are 16 sanskars right from birth till death. Each of the sanskar performed in Sanatan Dharma has its own importance and out of these 16 sanskars, Annaprashan Sanskar is considered as the 7th sanskar. When a child takes birth, it is deopendant only on mother’s milk. The baby needs nutrition to develop mentally and physically. This is why according to Annaprashan Muhurat 2024, taking into consideration Auspicious moment (Muhurat), and date, the baby is fed grain for the first time. Hence, this sanskar is considered very important.
According to Sanatana religious texts, it is said in context to Annaprashan that when a baby is inside the womb of their mother, the baby ingests impure food and due to this the baby gets the defect of taking impure food. Annaprashan Sanskaar eliminates this malicious defect.
But, in Sanatan Dharma, there is a ritual to perform every work in auspicious muhurat and date because if a work is done in an auspicious Muhurat, it gives auspicious results multiplied many times. So, Annaprashan Sanskaar 2024 should always be performed in an auspicious Muhurat. Annaprashan Muhurat 2024says that it should be ensured by the parents that the Annaprashan of the baby is performed on an auspicious Date and Muhurat with all rituals and customs.
We have told you about the 16 sanskars, the names of the sankars are as follows: Garbhadhan Sanskar, Punswan sanskar, Seemantonnayan sanskar, Jaatkarma Sanskar, Naamkaran Sanskaar, Nishkraman Sanskar, Annaprashan Sanskar, Chudakarm sanskar, Vidyaarambh Sanskar, KarnVedh sanskar, Yagyopavit Sanskar, Vedaarambh Sanskaar, Keshant Sanskar, Samavartan Sanskar, Vivah Sanskar, Antyeshti Sanskar.
It is also proved by the scientific aspect that the baby ingests the impure food in the mother’s womb. So, to get rid of the fault of the impure food, Annaprashan sanskar plays an important role. Annaprashan sanskar holds an important place in both scientific and astrological aspects. According to astrology, after taking birth in 84 lakh different species, a soul receives a human body. That is why every karma and sanskar of human beings is performed by religious rituals.
To remove all the defects related to food, this sanskar can be performed from the age between 6 months and 1 year old babies. However, Annaprashan Sankar must be performed according to Annaprashan Muhurta 2024 only.
According to Annaprashan Muhurat 2024,it is broadly mentioned in our religious texts that when to perform Annaprashan Sanskaar and what are the things that need attention. However, Annaprashan sanskar needs to be performed when the baby attains the age between six months to 1 year. The sanskar of boys is performed in the even months like the 6th, 8th, and 10th months and the sanskar of girls is performed in the odd digit months like the 5th, 7th, 9th, or eleventh.
The followers of Hinduism like to know about the auspicious Muhurat before doing anything. To decide the most auspicious Muhurat in the new year according to Annaprashan Muhurat 2024, the birth nakshatra of the baby is also seen. In this way, baby’s birth Nakshatra, the even and odd digit months of boys and girls are taken into consideration to calculate and predict Annaprashan Muhurat 2024
First of all, a priest tells the date and time of auspicious Muhurat (Shubh Muhurat) to the parents of the baby and on that special day, this sanskar is performed. The baby is dressed in new clothes and if you want, you can dress the baby in traditional clothes
According to Annaprashan Muhurat 2024, This sanskar starts with a Pooja (prayers) or Havan and in this ritual, the baby is blessed with a gift of good health. After the Pooja (prayers), the baby is fed by the sacrament (prasad ) or solid Food and the relatives and friends are invited to attend the function because it is an event of happiness for the parents and family.
According to rituals and customs, A fun-filled game is also played in Annaprashan sanskar which is an important part of this sanskar. 5 things are placed in Banana leaves or a big plate and the baby is urged to pick any object. Picking an object by the baby signifies that in which field the baby will take more interest in future and in which field the baby will make their career.
These 5 objects represents 5 sectors of life which are as follows:
Book: Symbol of learning and education.
Ornaments: Symbol of money and wealth.
Pen: Symbol of Knowledge.
Clay: Symbol of Property
Kheer or Food items: Symbol of attraction to food.
Note: The five things used in Annaprashan Sanskar may vary according to religion and culture.
If you are thinking of performing Annaprashan Sanskar for your child in 2024, then some things have to be specially considered while choosing the Muhurat so that the baby gets the blessings of God, planets, and constellations.
