CandlemasThis festival is one of the most prominent festivals according to the Christian Holidays 2023, celebrated on February 2nd. Candlemas observed to celebrate the purification of Mother Mary after the birth of her first born, Jesus. According to the Christian beliefs, a woman is considered to be impure for forty days after giving birth to a child. Forty days later, the mother is brought to the Church where she is purified according to the Jewish rituals. Hence, Candlemas is celebrated 40 days after Christmas by lighting candles in every Church.
