Major Jain Festivals in 2022 As Per Jainism
Mahavir Jayanti-
One of the main Jain holidays in 2022, this day marks the birth of Vardhamana Mahavira. Vardhamana (also known as Mahavira) is the last prophet in the Galaxy of Twenty-four Tirthankaras. Mahavira is considered one of the greatest prophets that India has ever produced in terms of peace and social reformation. He was born in the year 599 B. C. and his birth anniversary attracts a massive crowd, mostly people of the Jain community, who gather at the ancient Jain holy sites at Girnar and Palitana, in Gujarat.
Paryushan Parva-
Paryushana Parva is one of the most prominent Jain festivals 2022 of the Jain community. This day is celebrated by Digambar Jains and Shvetambar Jains for 10 and 8 days respectively. It is a festival of forgiveness and repentance and is considered the period of daily fasting, confession, and inner reflection. On the third day of this festival, Kalpa Sutra’s procession is carried out, followed by the demonstration of holy dreams by Trishala, mother of Mahavira, soon after which, the birth anniversary of Mahavira is celebrated. Ananth Chaurdsashi is the tenth day of the festival and is observed as the day when Lord Vasupujya attained nirvana. Kshamavani is the last day of the festival where folks of the Jain community seek forgiveness from people for their sinful conduct during the previous year.
Mahamastakabhisheka-
Mahamastakabhisheka is a popular festival that is celebrated once every 12 years. It is one of the most important festivals that is widely celebrated in Karnataka. It is celebrated in respect of the Eighteen-meter high statue of Bahubali in the town of Shravanabelagola, Karnataka.
During the celebration of this festival, devotees sprinkle holy water on the participants and the enormous Bahubali statue is worshipped by the crowd that assembles there from different parts of the country. There are many principles and rules involved in this celebration that need to be followed by the devotees.

Rohini Vrat-
Rohini Vrat bags the top spot in the list of Jain Holidays 2022. This fast is observed by the people of the Jain community and is regarded as one of the most eminent fasts in the Jain religion. 27 days after the Rohini Nakshatra rises, this fast is observed.
Meru Trayodashi-
Meru Trayodashi is the second festival to be celebrated by the Jain community after the Rohini Vrat. According to the Jain Calendar 2022, this event holds great prominence. The thirteenth day of the month of Margashirsha is observed as MeruTrayodashi. People celebrate this day with joy and vigor.
Diwali-
Diwali is an important festival among various communities in India, and in the Jain community too, this day holds special meaning. It is the day when Mahavira attained Nirvana in 527 BCE. According to the Jain calendar, this day is observed on the last day of Ashvina month. But unlike other communities, the devout Jains are not allowed to burst crackers.
