Significant Life Lessons & Predictions With 250+ Pages Of Brihat Kundali
The Annaprashan Sanskar is of great importance in Hinduism as it marks a big step in a baby’s growth. The significance of this ritual is such that most families conduct huge ceremonies to commemorate this day, by inviting guests, decorating the venue, and preparing a feast. The priests are invited with the utmost respect to performing this ritual on an auspicious Annaprashan Muhurat, who conducts this ceremony by reciting Annaprasana mantras. When we talk about the Vedic ages, there were many other parts of South Asia and Iran besides India, where the Annaprashan was practised. Mostly, this ritual takes place when a child is between 5 months to 9 months, and kids below or above this age cannot undergo the Annaprashan ceremony.
The rice eating ceremony 2022 can be performed at the child’s home, an outside venue like a banquet hall, or simply in a temple to seek blessings from God. It can be conducted for a day or two, depending upon the parents’ wish to celebrate this important day in their baby’s life.
The Annaprashan Rituals or the Annaprashan Vidhi is fun and interesting. It starts by making the baby sit on his/her maternal uncle’s lap, who feeds him/her his/her first bite of solid food. Other family members then feed the baby too and give him/her various gifts and valuables.
One of the fun activities during this ceremony is when items such as pens, books, gold jewellery, food, and clay are kept in front of the baby and he/she is made to choose one item from these. It is said that his/her choice will signify his/her area of interest that he/she will pursue in the future. Here, choosing gold means he/she will acquire great wealth, pen signifies wisdom, choosing clay will mean that he/she will own property, and choosing book or food will mean that he/she will be learned or will be charitable and empathetic, respectively.
