The tarot cards in Europe seems to date back the 14th century. The original teaching of the tarot is said to be based on 22nd pewter plates, which made up the major Arcana. Arcana mean the mysterious path. A reading of these cards were used to decide when to plant crops, or to make decisions for a nation such as when to go on war. Many years later the Minor Arcana cards were added. These were consists of 56 cards, which are the basis of the playing deck. Tarot cards are also called "the Book of Divination tradionally known as a deck of 78 cards with various pictures on them. They have been used for hundreds of years to reveal the hidden truths about the future of the person receiving the card reading."
TAROT DECKS-Decks are based on various themes such as nature, animals, fantasy, dragons etc. The tarot deck is made up of the Major Arcana and the Minor Arcana. A pack of 78 cards like regular playing cards,the Minor Arcana of the tarot deck includes four suits. These suits are -

- CUPS
- COINS OR PENTACLES.
Each suit has meaning regarding a specific approach to life. The cards within these suits are numbered to- one to ten and also include the four cards-the king, queen, knight and page. The Minor Arcana cards represents the practical ways of daily ups and downs in life.
The major Arcana includes the picture cards that represents particular concepts and ideas. They are numbered one through 21, with the 22nd card(THE FOOL) marked as zero. These cards represents strong, long term energy in life.
