IPL 2013: The Cricketing Extravaganza

IPL 2013 is going to begin on the 3rd April 2013 and will be concluded on 26th May. Cricket is in the air and everyone is gearing up for the exciting daily dose of entertainment and fun. We are a Cricket crazy nation and therefore, all the hoopla and anticipation hardly comes as a surprise. Like every year this year too, IPL fever is catching on and we can�t help but become a part of this grand event. IPL is not just about the Cricket but is also a splendid combination which ropes in Cricket, glamour, entertainment and fashion. In other words, it can be said that IPL 2013 is the complete package which is promising a great deal of entertainment. The title sponsor of the IPL 2013 is PepsiCo which replaced the last year�s sponsor DLF Ltd. The major venues of the IPL 2013 are Jaipur, Dharamshala, Mohali, Delhi, Ranchi, Kolkata, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Raipur, Mumbai and Pune.

IPL or the Indian Premier League is a league of different teams which play for the Twenty 20 cricket Championship. It was established by the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) in the year 2008. The IPL in its very first season became a great hit as struck a chord among the masses. Now the BCCI conducts IPL every year. It is said that in India, cricket is not just a game but it is a religion which people follow with all their heart. The opening match of the IPL 2013 is between Knight riders and Delhi Daredevils on 3rd April at Kolkata.

There are total 9 teams that are expected to play in IPL 2013. The IPL 2013 will be the 6th season of this series. The teams include Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Daredevils, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kings XI Punjab, Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians, Pune Warriors India, Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Every team has their own songs that make it easier for the fans to cheer their respective teams. Also, such songs build in a sense of belonging in the team and its fans.

IPL 2013: The Auction

The IPL 2013 auction was held on the 3rd February at Chennai. Two names that stole the show were Ricky Ponting and Michael Clarke as they were the heavy names. The most expensive player was Glenn Maxwell and fetched an overwhelming amount of USD 1 million. The Australians were the popular choice as many Australian players were sold in this auction. Other than Australia there are many other countries whose players are participating in the IPL 2013. Like every year this time also the Pakistani team has been excluded from the IPL 2013. The Pakistani team has not played since the 2008 Mumbai attacks due to the tensions that surfaced after that. However, many cricket fans want to see the two sides play together but it does seem like happening very soon.

IPL 2013: The Opening Ceremony

Like every year, the opening ceremony of IPL 2013 is highly promising and awaited. The opening ceremony of the IPL 2013 will be held on the 2nd April 2013 at Kolkata's Salt Lake Stadium. The presence of Bollywood has added another feature in the IPL 2013. People want to see their favorite film stars with their loved cricketers together. As it is a well known fact that in Indian films and Cricket are two biggest passions in India and when the two come together, speculations are bound to be at the peak. All this helps in a better advertising of IPL 2013. IPL opening ceremony is equally awaited part of the IPL series as it is expected to see a huge Bollywood turn out. The glitter and glamour other than cricket is the USP of this IPL season.
